DREAMBASE
PROGRAM: Pocket Parklet
CLIENT: GOSH Children's Hospital
ABOUT: The neighborhood around GOSH is home to a large community - the Tybalds Estate alone houses thousands of long-time residents - and locals share various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. In recent years, air pollution, increased traffic, and the continued redevelopment of GOSH have created a hectic living environment for the community. .

Although born long-time and new residents are proud to share the neighborhood with GOSH, the hospital's increasing development has led to a growing tension between GOSH and the community. Residents realise that GOSH must continue to expand however there's a strong feeling among them that their voices have gone unheard in the process. If left unaddressed, tensions will only increase.

GOSH are keen to integrate with its community and create a healthier street environment. The parklet design proposed is a green space offered by GOSH to residents, patients, and staff and meets their collective desire for a space that offers an "escape" amidst their hectic environment. Visitors leave the parklet feeling refreshed and know they can return when they're feeling restless. Passers-by and visitors to GOSH feel uplifted by its presence. Over time, parklet visitors develop a shared sense of ownership of the space and contribute to its sustainability.
