LOOK UP

PROGRAM: No-Wi-Fi Park
ABOUT: LOOK UP is a series of ergonomically-designed equipment designed to rehabilitate the body and mind from the negative effects of smartphone overexposure. The designed space is a refuge from the constant inter-connection, and a challenge for visitors to re-establish their boundaries between the real and the virtual world.
Tested in St. Pancras Square and Granary Square, the sensory design encourages people to take a stand against the omnipresence of tech companies, and remind them of the details that make our world one-in-a-universe. Through captivating sounds, smells, and visuals, users are presented with a temporary escape from the invisible wi-fi web that traps the city, and proposed an alternative public space that could heal the population from the endemic problem that is smartphone addiction.
